Edward Phillips Oppenheim (22 October 1866 – 3 February 1946) was an English novelist, in his lifetime a major and successful writer of genre fiction including thrillers. Oppenheim's literary success enabled him to buy a villa in France and a yacht, then a house in Guernsey, though he lost access to this during the Second World War. Afterwards he regained the house, le Vanquiédor in St. Peter Port, and he died there on 3 February 1946. During the war he worked for the Ministry of Information.

Remarkably, given the large number of different versions of this book available here on Amazon (at the moment I count two Kindle editions, 16 different hardcover editions, and 29 different paperback editions), there are presently no reviews offered. The large number of offerings is no doubt due to the public domain status of this work; still it surely deserves some comment here by the reviewing community.

The version I have myself is the Open Road Kindle Edition of A Prince of Sinners which has been recently (late November, 2014) issued by Open Road publishing, together with MysteriousPress dot com. Open Road is a publisher who has been issuing very well done Kindle editions of many classic works, all well edited and presented. In printed form, this book is approximately 400 pages long.

E. Phillips Oppenheim was a very successful English novelist, born in 1866 and living until 1946. Over the course of his lifetime he produced well in excess of 100 novels, as well as 37 collections of short stories, and 30 or so film adaptations. He was well enough known that his picture was featured on the September 12, 1927 edition of Time Magazine, commemorating the publication of his 100th novel. Wiki reports that he was successful enough to have purchased a villa in France, a yacht, and a house in Guernsey. He died at the house, le Vanquiédor in St. Peter Port, Guernsey.

A Prince of Sinners was originally published in 1903.

Good story----have read several by this author in the past; only problem was the size of the print---I'm past 70 & my eyes get tired reading the small print.
This is an elegantly written piece where a young man refuses to forgive his newly found father because he had abandoned he and his mother. But after life's many trials teaches much to both, they discover that there is strength and greater clarity in numbers. Enjoyable and thought-provoking!
A pretty good read.
This book held your interest at every chapter. I stayed awake too late too often just to get to the next details.
I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of events that took
place but not too many to make it unbelievable. Plus it has
a good ending.
and a great storyteller. Will the poor always be among us so long as are "handing out bits of charity on the toasting forks of religion"?
At first it was slow going and then it begin to get better. I started to like the characters and then the end was kind of disappointing
